Inspirational example that focuses on TV on Mobile

Everything is portable. I just need to have electricity and Internet connection the rest is only pleasure. I like TV so much that I didn’t want to have one in 10 years. I was afraid of the amount of hours I could spend in front of a it, randomly passing trough channel that I used to love, like history channel. At the end I decided to watch what Internet could give me for free which sometimes makes me want to go back to the high-res quality. Anyway my point is: Do I really want to pay 30 dollars a month to have a good quality TV service that I can watch 24 hours on my cell phone? sounds a little bit scary to me. As market goes, I’m sure somebody like my mom who loves her programs would really like to have this service.
To highlight the important point of this post, is that a good TV/cell service could be a great idea to help create new strong markets and thus make the point for the improvement the infrastructure. Without having any more worries about bandwidth, it would be very successful. I guess what I’m most interested in is the service that my provider could offer me. Like including netflix, hulu, regular TV channels in the same package with an easy interface. This would make me think twice.
Bellow are some of the specifications of the package:
AT&T Mobile TV package
•Full-length episodes from my favorites program,
•Quality Picture and Sound
•Mobile phone is a different service from your phone provider, doesn’t use their minutes
•Parental Controls
•TV plus : 30 a month
•Channels include: CBS Mobile, CNBC, Comedy Central, ESPN Mobile TV, FOX Mobile, FOX News, MSNBC, MTV, NBC2Go, Nickelodeon, CNN Mobile and Pix.
•Also gives you accessibility to the web
•With only one touch you could easily navigate to the next show and find the summary for your best show
•Great for searching on the fly

Wheelchair improvement for the polio victims in the Tikar People
hitip.org
Although polio has been eradicated from most of the world, the people of Tikar, Cameroon continue to live with the aftermath of this and other disabling illnesses that most of us have forgotten. Many Tikar and Pygmy people are completely paralyzed while others have deformed limbs and other disabling conditions.
HITIP’s Usoko Project provides individuals with disabilities in Cameroon with custom wheelchairs designed to withstand the environmental challenges of rural communities in the equatorial rainforest.
This project would explore the possibility of enhancing these wheelchairs that already exist with a solar array and batteries (Solar bicicle), thus helping on hills and long distance rides. Hopefully they could become an extension of their capabilities, because the wheelchairs is now a means of income when it could provide transportation and parcel services Solar Taxi in India.

Timeshift/Placeshift
Timeshift/Placeshift
For me, timeshisft/placeshift happened some years ago, because I do not have a TV at home. All my TV usually comes days after the program has aired, when I watch it on Hulu, YouTube or Netflix . For me, there is nothing better that watching the daily show on my laptop when in bed.
Don’t really care it was yesterday’s show… It never stops amazing me that I now watch programs live or delayed, from my laptop, wherever I have an Internet connection.

TV Feature I would love to have
I would love to have a phone that could act like a normal TV. Here, I could flip channels live or watch older episodes on demand, like in a Tivo. All the mainstream channels should be available and paid channels such as HBO or Cinemax could be added or seen on demand. It would also be great if Hulu and Netflix type of web services were also available with a sort of “universal plugin”. It would also be ideal if I could download all the content the night before, so I can watch it independent of having an internet connection.

Big Screens Proposal
Big Screen Proposals
I’ve been thinking a lot about how to approach and develop the idea and of which piece will be the most compelling and successful.
I have two ideas that I’ve been considering. They are very different and the final goal is distinct as well.
I come from a strong social-political art background in my work and I feel compelled to continue working along this path. The magnificence of the screen makes me think about accumulation, wasting, consumerism, brightness, contrast and oversize. This is why I believe I could create a reflection of my first impression of New York: TRASH.
My biggest challenge is to create a clean beautiful image to do this reference without being literal.
I’ll be working with Java, Open frames, After Effects, Final Cut Pro and a good HD camera (I’m not sure yet which one). It would be ideal to have a nice background sound, I understand the system is mono so I would probably need to do some research on how to overcome this.
As interactivity goes I’m not sure how to address this issue because of the many restrictions the space has. My first idea would be to have a performance where the conductor guides the images instead of his orchestra. The other would be to have an infrared sensor that triggers the images. In other words the audience becomes the conductor. Last but not least, I would like to include data of pollution, trash, recycling information, etc.

The second idea is more subtle and I could say more romantic. I would like to create a world behind the screens where people are watching us. The gray human-size shapes that are in the other side would walk on the street, buy coffee, go to work etc and once in a while they will get close to the screen and touch it. Their touch generates a wave kind of movement on the screen’s “surface”. The goal with this idea is to create a beautiful simple video/animation where shadows figures fill the space with movement. The interactive part will be using cell phones to call the “people” to get closer to the screen and touch it. The only problem is that I don’t have any mobile experience.
